Strengthening Uganda- UK Relations
Finance Minister, Henry Musasizi met the British High Commissioner to Uganda, H.E. Lisa Chesney at the Finance Ministry in Kampala.
The discussions focused on strengthening the bilateral cooperation between Uganda and the United Kingdom especially in the areas of trade and investment, tenfold growth agenda, project implementation and domestic revenue mobilization.
The Minister thanked the United Kingdom for the support extended to Uganda over the years in various areas including health, education, infrastructure development and climate resilient agriculture.
Musasizi emphasized the issue of enhancing domestic revenue mobilization to finance the budget and reduce the debt burden, adding that fiscal consolidation, budget discipline, wealth creation and effective management of oil revenues are also high on agenda.
The British High Commissioner applauded Uganda’s macroeconomic stability and resilience amidst the various global economic shocks and expressed optimism about the opportunities for trade and investment that exist between the two countries.
H.E.Chesney was accompanied by officials including; Benjamin Zeitlyn, the Growth, Prosperity and Climate Leader and Louis Arinaitwe, the Country Director, Department for Business and Trade.
